Specimen Requirements
1 mL Serum
- Fasting is recommended
- Tubes should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection
- Do not take Metamizole (Dipyrone) immediately prior to drawing
blood. This could results in false low results for Cholesterol and
Triglycerides.

Red-top tube (no additive).
Alternative: Serum gel separator tube.
Can be performed on plasma - use an EDTA (purple-top) or Heparin (green-top) tube.
