GI Stool Analysis from DDI: Let Us Tell You More

Exciting Update!  
  Doctor’s Data has been able to identify over 1240 bacteria and yeast!  This is by far more sensitive than any other technology available for gastrointestinal analysis.  Now, we are pleased to announce that our reference library has now been updated to include 13 new bacteria genera and 50 new bacteria species. The coverage of yeast species is now almost doubled by eight new genera and 63 new species. For microbial species already present in the database, 800 new main spectra have been added improving the intra-species coverage and identification accuracy.  This update will allow us to expand our identification of gut microorganisms even more, further solidifying our technology as the most powerful tool available for the complete assessment of the gut microbiome.

Limitations of DNA based stool analysis

  • Unable to consistently detect pathogenic bacteria at levels known to be clinically significant
  • Restricts the definition of the microbiome to only known species (what the laboratory has DNA probes for)
  • Misses clinically relevant species that are present below the relatively high detection limits of DNA technology
